Harmonisation of Public Policies on Sexual Education and HIV/AIDS Prevention in Schools in the MERCOSUL

Already in 2007 – in a multilateral process facilitated by GIZ, the Brazilian Ministry of Health, UNAIDS, UNESCO and UNFPA - six countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay) jointly agreed to implement the regional south-south cooperation project called “Harmonisation of Public Policies on Sexual Education and HIV/AIDS Prevention in Schools in the MERCOSUL”. The flyer briefly describes the aims of the joint initiative, the implementation process, and achievements.

This report focuses on the gender dimensions of HIV-related stigma and aims to advance a more nuanced understanding and more effective advocacy on how stigma affects women and girls living with HIV differently to men and boys. The publication is meant to be used as an advocacy tool by relevant stakeholders – from international donors to global policy makers, national governments, programme managers, civil society and people living with HIV.
