The manual aims to guide trained peer educators on how to effectively share health related information with their peers. It describes the purpose of an employee wellness programme and the peer educator’s role in this programme, highlights certain characteristics of good peer education, contains training material and interactive methods for each training session, and provides standardised monitoring and evaluation tools to follow up on expected outputs and outcomes.

This manual is aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle of schoolchildren. The concept of healthy lifestyle includes the lack of bad habits, the maintenance of good health, the ability to resist a potentially negative influence of the social environment, and general hygienic literacy, to name just a few. Taking into account the age and psychological characteristics of children, the manual presents consecutive exercises for teachers to adequately address health and healthy lifestyle.

From the PASHA project to the MoEVT’s approach to School Counselling Services and Peer Education – The extensive report of GIZ and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute describes the achievements and lessons learned of the extracurricular approach of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training in Tanzania to address Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and HIV and AIDS in schools which had been implemented from 2003-2012.

This publication describes the approaches of four initiatives to address sexual health and HIV in school in different epidemiological contexts in Africa which have been supported by German Development Cooperation.
