The paper briefly outlines the different types of courses which have been developed by GIZ to foster “Human Capacity Development (HCD)” in the area of health and especially HIV.

The brochure presents information about an innovative course for teaching about HIV and AIDS which has been developed by GIZ and the University of the Western Cape in light of the fact that the dominating information-based AIDS prevention programmes have not had any effect on the young people.

To further facilitate the understanding of Behaviour-Change-Communication and the application of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) methods in day-to‐day work, a short course tailored around interventions supported by programmes of GDC was offered from 9‐10 March, 2012 in Johannesburg, South Africa. This report documents the proceedings, presentations and discussions of this short course.

The manual aims to guide trained peer educators on how to effectively share health related information with their peers. It describes the purpose of an employee wellness programme and the peer educator’s role in this programme, highlights certain characteristics of good peer education, contains training material and interactive methods for each training session, and provides standardised monitoring and evaluation tools to follow up on expected outputs and outcomes.
